Health systems and the seek for sustainable practices

Companies are increasingly seeking to acquire more sustainable practices as a way to stand out and offer differentiated products and services to consumers.

That is what has been happening with the biggest hospital In Natal, the capital of the State of Rio Grande do Norte. São Lucas Hospital is interested in recycling so they contacted Reforest and Recycle For The Future to help them implement the new practice in the hospital. Even though a big part of the waste produced is hospital waste, there is also a significant amount of paper used every day and plastic cups used by patients that could be recycled.

Almost every high-level hospital around the globe has been showing the same worries such as Abraham Lincoln Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, Boston Medical Center, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Seattle Children, and many others. These hospitals are addressing the links between the environment and human health through a range of different policies such as serving less meat and reducing toxic chemicals to using life-saving renewable energy sources.

Meeting with the Board of the São Lucas Hospital to discuss strategies for implementing recycling in the hospital.
