Starting the project

For every project, there is a beginning. For the start of the “Recycle For The Future” project, meeting with Mr. Curioso, administrator of one of the largest residential buildings in Natal City, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, in the Northeast of Brazil, was definitely an essential first step. It was discussed the details of the inclusion of the building in the dry waste recycling program.

In Brazil, only 4% of waste is recycled and in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, even less waste is recycled: 2%. The main goal of the project is to increase the recycling rate of Rio Grande do Norte by 5% in a year. With the participation of this building, it is calculated that up to 100 tons of waste can be recycled per year, and by doing that it is expected to more than double the amount jobs in the recycling cooperative, taking many women who used to work at open dumps of miserable working and life conditions.

Co-Founder Cecilia Gurgel making great progress with Mr. Curioso.
